About Dr. George

Dr. Abraham M. George is an economist, educator, philanthropist, and founder of several institutions serving India’s most marginalized communities. His work spans environmental health reform, free-press training, high-quality education for the poorest children, and community healthcare. He is the founder of Shanti Bhavan Residential School, the Indian Institute of Journalism & New Media, and Baldev Medical & Community Center. His early advocacy led to the removal of lead from gasoline across India, impacting the lives of millions.
